Tactical Carry vs Weighted Training

Tactical plate carriers are built for operational loadouts: MOLLE attachment, drag handles, cummerbund adjustment, and genuine plate retention under movement. Training carriers replicate the carry feel of a duty rig under load for conditioning: rucking, functional fitness, Hyrox prep and job-specific physical training.

Plates Sold Separately

All plate carriers are sold as the carrier only, ballistic or weighted plates are not included. For tactical use, you'll need to source hard armour plates separately and confirm they fit your carrier's plate pocket dimensions (most accept standard 10"×12" SAPI or shooters-cut plates). For training use, TacSource stocks 5.11 Tactical weight plate pairs to pair with the TacTec Trainer, sized from 5.25kg through to 17kg per pair.

Body Armour Laws in Australia

Plate carriers are legal to own across Australia. Hard ballistic armour plates are restricted in Queensland and Victoria, and possession without a permit or lawful excuse is an offence. For professional and agency use you're generally covered under your licensing. Confirm your state's requirements before purchasing ballistic plates. Training weight plates are not classified as body armour.
